Der Forschungsschwerpunkt der AG Kübler liegt auf dem Gebiet der translationalen Forschung im Bereich der pulmonalen und kardiovaskulären Physiologie und Pathophysiologie. Zu diesem Zweck werden Methoden und Erkenntnisse aus der Grundlagenforschung, welche auf intrazelluläre Signalwege und interzelluläre Kommunikation abzielen, auf der Ebene des intakten Organs respektive Organismus integriert. Dieser Ansatz ermöglicht es, neue grundlegende Pathomechanismen in komplexen Krankheitsmodellen wie dem akuten Lungenschaden, dem Lungenödem oder der pulmonalen Hypertonie zu identifizieren. Dieses Wissen wird dann für die Entwicklung und präklinische Erprobung neuer therapeutischer Strategien umgesetzt.
Ein besonderer methodischer Schwerpunkt der AG liegt im Einsatz intravitaler Mikroskopie- und Bildgebungs-Techniken in intakten Organen oder in vivo, die mit zell- und molekularbiologischen Techniken einerseits, sowie modernen physiologischen Messungen andererseits kombiniert werden.
